People often ask us where the name "JourneyApps" comes from. Since our origin was a software platform for apps for Digital Connected Workers, the name comes from focusing on people that journey out into the field. In fact, these folks are often journeymen.
As Founder and CEO, Conrad drives the vision, strategy and key business development initiatives for JourneyApps. He has led JourneyApps to being a provider of strategic software development tools for by large enterprises around the globe. He has a background in software architecture and development.
Ralf is co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of JourneyApps. He is a talented mathematician and technologist, with a passion for startups and challenging technical problems. He excelled in various international mathematics and programming competitions (IMO, IOI, ACM ICPC) and completed a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Computer Science (cum laude) at the University of Stellenbosch. He is an expert in mobile data synchronization, scaling, offline mobile applications, software architecture and algorithms.
Kobie started out in the aerospace sector where he designed, constructed and maintained a multi-million dollar broadband communications payload that was launched into space. He then spent two years modelling marine ecosystems using machine learning algorithms to further our understanding of climate as a driver on sardine and anchovy populations in the Atlantic and Indian oceans. Previously, Kobie co-founded a cybersecurity startup specialising in multi-factor authentication, that was acquired by ESET, a global cybersecurity company.
Gus is an expert in getting to the heart of business problems and has a passion for business development. He has over 30 years of business development experience in the enterprise software space and has previously held sales and management positions at Bentley Systems in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as well as Dimension Data, Delos Technology and Software Futures.
Phillip is a customer development expert who combines empathy with a keen understanding of technology. He now leads user growth and community strategy for PowerSync (a product of JourneyApps). He previously served as VP of Business Development, where he secured major industrial customers and managed their successful implementation of the JourneyApps Platform. Phillip was one of the very first solutions consultants at JourneyApps and holds degrees in law and economics.
Carol is a successful Silicon Valley entrepreneur, investor, and board member. She is a recognized pioneer in mobile, emerging payments and enterprise software. She was named “one of the 50 Top Women in Technology” by Corporate Board Member magazine. Carol is a serial entrepreneur and expert in financial service innovation. She has built many successful companies, including Chordiant Software (successful IPO), and Omney (sold to Mastercard). She was VP of Marketing and Sales at Legato (later IPO).
Susan is Managing Partner at Aligned Partners, an investor in JourneyApps. She has more than 30 years of operating, management, and venture capital experience. Before co-founding Aligned Partners, she spent 15 years with ONSET Ventures, an early stage venture capital firm with $1 billion under management. Susan received a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Colorado and a MBA from the University of California. She has held positions in marketing and the engineering design of high-performance systems and microprocessors for Fujitsu Microelectronics, Fairchild Semiconductor and NCR Microelectronics.
